ELGIN DAY, Saturday, August 8th was a community celebration that picked up on the timing and spirit of the former Elgin Blueberry Maplefest . . .

ELGIN DAY 2009 was truly a co-operative effort involving the Elgin Eco Association and Women’s Institute, the Elgin Volunteer Fire Department and Elgin Seniors Club. ELGIN DAY was centred at the Women’s Institute Hall, the historic hub of the community, located at 32 Gowland Mountain Road. There was activities at the ball field, Laurie Bishop Senior Centre, and round and about our lovely rural churches. Also the vanGeest Dairy Farm was open for touring. Visitors began their farm and church tour by picking up a map at the Senior Centre Open House.

All proceeds from ELGIN DAY go towards the Community Endowment Fund.

ELGIN DAY began at 10 a.m. Everyone enjoyed a variety of judged exhibits in the WI Hall and displays featuring a GREEN theme with emphasis on local nature photography, recycling, organic gardening and farming, eco groups such as Fundy Model Forest

People come from far and wide to enjoy the fall foliage and to catch up with friends, old and new.
