Literary Events in NB 2010

Here are a few upcoming literary events in NB this month:

September 16, in Moncton, Elaine Amyot will be launching her book, The
Seven Gates: A Memoir of a Descent, at 8 pm, at La Teraz Art Gallery, 154
Church Street, Moncton. All are welcome!

On September 23, in Fredericton, Allan Donaldson will launch his literary
mystery, The Case Against Owen Williams (Nimbus Publishing) at 7:00pm at
Westminster Books.

Allan Donaldson's 2005 debut novel, MacLean, was a harrowing, literal day in
the life of a shell-shocked, alcoholic WWI veteran searching for booze and a
birthday gift for his mother. It was shortlisted for the prestigious Rogers
Writers' Trust Fiction Prize. Donaldson's follow-up novel is a venture into
lliterary mystery ."The Case Against Owen Williams" tells the story of Owen
Williams, a quiet soldier stationed with a garrison of conscripted men
dubbed "the Zombies," who are unwilling to serve overseas. When a teenage
girl is found dead in a gravel pit after a dance, Owen Williams was the last
person reported to have seen her. What follows is a novel that "explores the
circumstances of a wrongful conviction and the gaps in the justice system
that allow it to flourish.

And a grant writing workshop:

September 16 ยท 6:00pm - 8:00pm at the Saint John Arts Centre, 20 Hazen
Avenue.

Enterprise Saint John and ArtsNB are partnering to offer a FREE workshop on
grant writing for artists and creative entrepreneurs. The guest speaker is
Vanessa Moeller, Deputy Managing Director with the New Brunswick Arts Board.
The focus will be on upcoming ArtsNB grants and the Saint John Regional
Project.
