About Me

My photo
Sharon A. Layton-Pollock
Hi, my name is Sharon. I am an artist, author and freelance writer. As far back as I can remember I was sketching pictures and telling stories. First to my many brothers and sisters, cousins and friends. Then to my children, nieces and nephews and now to my grandchildren and their friends. When I was 15 I finally had a little room of my own. I covered the walls with sketches I had done on the back of unused wallpaper. Often times my parents, Harold and Gertie Layton, would come in and observe all my drawings. My inspiration for painting and writing comes from my love of nature and the happiness of my childhood. My parents had 14 children: Gloria, Elaine, me, Harold Jr., Brian, Larry, Robert, Deborah, Katherine, Linda, Joanne, Kelly, Michael and Susan. Needless to say there never was a dull moment on our farm in Wheaton Settlement, New Brunswick, Canada. Before I retired I was the owner of a local newspaper called Positive Impact. It was during those wonderful years I put to paper my love of telling stories. Now writing for Local In The Know is just an extension of my passion for life!
