APRIL – EASTER – SPRING

Are we ready for this? It means all the Car Clubs have to get to work for the summers’ schedules.
We can’t complain about the winter weather. It was a busy winter for us here at the Hall Of Fame. We had the Conference room rented several times. Had a Valentines Dance, and on April 3rd there was a wedding and reception.
The 4-wheeler draw was March 26; this was our 5th and our most successful to date. Kellie Cromwell from Quispamsis was the winner. Thank you each and everyone for selling tickets and buying tickets.

There are many things planned for the upcoming months.

The next big thing is April 10th at 7:30pm; it’s the Basement Players Inc. putting on a comedy play “Aunt Tillie Goes To Sea”. Admission for this is Adults $10.00 and Children 12 and under $5.00. Come and bring a friend.

May 8 is our Annual Meeting at 3:00pm.in Conference room B at the Hall Of Fame. It is very important that all members attend this meeting. This is also the election of officers. If you know anyone that can be elected to the Presidents position, please be thinking about it.

On May 22 the Hartland Band has booked for a dance. Tickets will be sold at the door and are $8.00 per person. They play Classic Country.

The Municipal Visitors Information Centre is to be open by June 1st. Any of the Motor Sports Clubs and Race Tracks may put their information here for the public and tourist to have access to. In order to have the Information Centre Question Mark we have to give up our small meeting room. We could also use some volunteers to help with this. We need volunteers to help with other areas. Anyone that can give us a few hours now and then please get in touch with us.

June 5th is our 5th Annual Petty AutoFest Motor Sports Exhibition, this year being held at the Maritime Motorsports Hall Of Fame. Vehicles will be displayed outside. The starting time is 9:00am. The admission charge is $5.00 per person. The Border Town Band is playing in the afternoon again this year. There is an added attraction this year, a Pig Roast. The pork will be served on a bun starting at 11:00am. The proceeds go to the Petitcodiac & District Figure Skating Club. All Motor Sport Vehicles are welcome. Bring your friends and vote for the Vehicle that you like the best; a plaque will be given to the one with the most votes in each division. A live auction is also planned. The winning ticket for the toolbox will be drawn as well.

November 6 is our 5th Annual Induction Ceremony being held at the New Brunswick Casino at Magnetic Hill. The ticket price is $80.00 per person. A block of room has been set-aside for anyone wishing to register at that Hotel. Rooms are $149.00 plus tax. These rooms need to be booked by October 6 for this rate. Inductees will be announced in September. Derek Oland, Executive Chairman for Moosehead Breweries Limited is scheduled to be Guest Speaker.

MEMBERSHIP notices were sent out in the December newsletter, thank you to the people that have already replied. However, there are still some that have not renewed at this time. Your support is very much needed to keep the building functioning.

They are starting to take out some vehicles and will bring in others. There have been a number of people through touring the Museum. We are looking forward to the summer. The picnic tables are already built, ready to be installed. Looking forward to having the landscaping done.

If any of you have any fund raising ideas PLEASE pass them on to us, and oh yes, help us make them work. We do need your help with your Maritime Motorsports Hall Of Fame.

If any one has knowledge of past involvement in motorsports, such as drivers and tracks, owners of tracks, wearing apparel, pictures and programs or anything else that we may use, please contact us. These are all things we need to present the history of Motor Sports.

Items that we still need: Projector screen to be mounted on the wall, a flip chart, mannequins, racks for information centre, another computer, printer, stands to display info at displays, scanner to do large articles and filing cabinets.

Have a great summer and you all come to visit the Hall Of Fame, tell your friends. Your support is very much needed.
