Encouraging Maritime Motor Sport Hall of Fame Meeting

Representatives of various bodies, sponsors and even fans attended a special meeting at Keddy's Motor Inn in Moncton on Sunday, October 16, 2005. The main focus of the meeting was the building of a Maritime Motor Sport Hall of Fame and museum in Petitcodiac. This project, that will house the hall of fame and it's museum, is called The Petitcodiac Regional Interpretation and Cultural Centre. The land has been donated by the Village of Petitcodiac, N.B.

The enthused group at the meeting announced plans for the 2006 Motorsports Induction Ceremony. A nominating committee was set up, and will have their first meeting on November 20, 2005 at the Atlantic Motel in Berry Mills. Heading this committee will be Herman Berry and the first task will be to set up a selection criteria. Affiliated groups can submit their nominations on the web at www.motorsporthalloffame.com

Starting late January 2006 fundraising will begin. Be watching for the various events that will be organized for you to help support and bring to fruition the Petitcodiac Regional Interpretation and Cultural Centre, which will be the home for The Maritime Motor Sport Hall of Fame.

The meeting on Sunday had it's own fundraiser in the way of a silent auction. Those who contributed to this worthy cause were: Forbes Chevrolet of Dartmouth, N.S. with product and a cheque for $500.00, Ultra Alarm Services (2002) Ltd., ACE Building Center, Petitcodiac, Toys For Big Boys, Salisbury Road, McLean's Engine Rebuilders, River Glade, Universal Accessories Ltd., Salisbury, Auction Fiberglass & MFG Ltd., Moncton, Atlantic Motel and Restaurant, Berry Mills and Discount Muffler and Brakes of Salisbury, N.B..

The highlight of the meeting was the auction of one of the late Paul Lewis' trophies. This trophy was donated by his family. The trophy was won by Paul during the International Race at the 25th. Anniversary of the River Glade Speedway.

The trophy went to the highest bidder, Frank Fraser. In the picture (l-r) are Herman Berry, Frank Frazer and Ernie McLean. Frank said,
"This will go up beside my picture of Dale Earnhardt."

Hi Sharon. Nice to see the up-date on the meeting that recently took place for the Maritime Motorsport Hall Of Fame. I did, however, notice the web site for submitting nominations as www.motorsporthalloffame.com not sure...but was this not supposed to be MaritimeMotorsportHallOfFame.com? I tried the one you suggested but it had a multitude of other things on it. Just checking.
